Tool Time with Tim Taylor Chris Ragan

If you’ve ever cut concrete then you know what a freaking mess it can be. And even wearing a respirator, concrete dust is no joke. The stuff gets EVERYWHERE! The professional dust collection systems are super expensive but I found a cheaper solution online. Once installed, I can use it with my shop vac. So let’s mess up a brand-spanking new circular saw what do you say.

With hacksaw in hand, I cut a hole in the aluminum housing.

Nothing like voiding the warranty in 5 minutes.

I tapped some machine screws and installed the plastic piece. Then I caulked it up for an air-tight seal.

Now hook up your shop vac and go have some fun.

Magazine Photo Shoot

Working for a small company means wearing a number of different hats. Today I’m wearing my photographer’s hat. Our Florida Condo and HOA magazine sponsors an awards ceremony each year to recognize various condominium properties for a number of different accomplishments. My task was to photograph the actual trophy and then design a full page ad for next year’s Communities of Excellence competition.

Since I’m using all of my own equipment, don’t look for pro lighting gear here. I built a light box out of pvc pipe, sheets, clip-on shop lights and poster board. The entire thing breaks down into a couple of grocery bags when not in use.

The final ad will run in this month’s Florida Community Association Journal. Last year we held the awards ceremony in Ft. Lauderdale at the Hard Rock Cafe.

There is a very easy way to return from a casino with a small fortune: go there with a large one. ~Jack Yelton

Oaklawn | Charades from Jones Film Video on Vimeo.

Here’s 1 of 3 commercials that we shot for Oaklawn Casinos. They should go into heavy rotation any day now. The 2 day shoot was a blast although waking up at 4am for an early call time wasn’t my first choice. That’s showbiz I guess.

Everyone likes ice cream!

Lucretia found this ad in Weddings in Arkansas magazine yesterday. They’re the folks that put out At Home in Arkansas. We actually shot the pics several years ago but they keep popping up in ads here and there.

Hollywood, FL

So here’s the beautiful pool that I never dipped so much as a toe in. I spent part of last week in a handful of hotel meeting/ballrooms (at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida) but those are the breaks. We were able to eat some good food in the evenings after the convention meetings. The highlight of our return trip through Charlotte, aside from delays due to mechanical problems with our plane, was watching some loud-mouthed lady get dragged out of the gate. She was cursing out the boarding agent like crazy when he had just about enough and the next thing you know, she’s OUTTA THERE! Ha ha, ain’t karma somethin’.

On our last night we grabbed a delicious meal at the Bluepoint Ocean Grill and then listened to some outdoor music.

Magazine Cover Design

Not much to report but I thought I’d post the cover design that I was working on this morning. I am happy how it turned out.
